The New Course at St. Andrews is truly not a new golf course at all, and has in fact been open for over 100 years.

Opened in April 1895, the New Course was designed by Tom Morris and sits in the shadows of the Old Course at St. Andrews.

Construction of the New Course became necessary due to the heavy demand developing for golf in St. Andrews.

The New Course features a classic links layout and uses the area's natural humps and hollows to create a first-class golfing experience, that should be a part of any Scotland golf package. Accuracy is in greater demand here than on the Old Course, as many fairways are lined with thick rough and swathes of gorse.

Over 60 bunkers grace the New Course's layout and although not as severe as the Old Course they are a hazard that should not be taken lightly. The New Course at St. Andrews incorporates many features of the Old Course, including shared fairways and a double green on the 3rd and 15th holes.
