PORTMARNOCK OLD 6,680 yards par 72
Portmarnock Golf Club is located on a small peninsula that pierces southward out into the Irish Sea. Surrounded by water on three sides and laid out in a serpentine fashion, no two successive holes play in the same direction creating a challenge that lives long in the memory. The course has hosted many major events including the Walker Cup, British Amateur and the Irish Open. The course has some extraordinary holes including the 14th, which Henry Cotton regarded as the best hole in golf and the 15th, which Arnold Palmer regards as the best par-3 in the world. |

THE K CLUB 6650 yards par 72
This course is growing in reputation and has recently been thrust into the international limelight as the host venue of the 2006 Ryder Cup. Designed by Arnold Palmer, this is a challenge to even the best golfers. Covering 177 acres of prime Kildare woodland there are 14 man-made lakes as well as the River Liffey to capture any wayward shots. There is the promise of a watery grave at the monster 7th and at the 17th the challenging tee shot is to a green perched on the water’s edge. There is also a practice area and driving range. |

THE ISLAND 6,203 yards par 72
The Island was for a long period only accessible by boat, but thankfully for the land lovers among us a road now provides easy access. The course is set in beautiful surroundings, alongside Donabate Beach and the Broadmeadow Estuary. Designed by Fred Hawtree and completed in 1888, many feel that the style and character of this course is more sympathetic to the courses of South West Ireland. Unsurprisingly this course has many elevation changes and is fast gaining a reputation as the ‘Gem’ of the emerald Isles East Coast. |

DRUIDS GLEN 6,853 yards par 72
Druids Glen Golf Club is often referred to as the Augusta of Europe. Although only 7 years old, the course designers Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddock used the existing rugged and varied landscape to produce arguably the best parkland course in Ireland. With its 18 challenging holes, many of those over water, Druids Glen offers a unique golfing experience to all golfers. Each hole encompasses a distinct Irish flavor including an ancient Druids Altar on the 12th hole. |

THE EUROPEAN 6,945 yards par 71
The European is a more modern golf links that has seen Pat Ruddy use the spectacular coastal landscape along with traditional links design to create what many consider as a must play course when visiting these shores. Deep bunkers, undulating dunes and a regular stiff sea breeze combine to produce a thinking mans golf course that must be plotted carefully if you are to reap the rewards. Rated in many top 100 courses in the world lists, the European is a course truly deserving of its Championship Links tag. |

ST MARGARETS 6,629 yards Par 73
St Margaret’s has already hosted 3 international tournaments, since opening in 1992. This modern parkland course, boasts big dramatic holes like the roller coaster twelfth, which rolls between two lakes and across a babbling brook to a majestically elevated green. WATERVILLE 7,184 yards Par 72
A visit to Waterville Golf Club takes the player back in time to the beginning of the history of golf - this club was founded in 1889 and is accordingly one of the oldest-established golf clubs in the British Isles. Golf at Waterville is a mystical experience - the beauty of classic links land, surrounded by the sea, yet forever challenged by the elements. You are eased into the course gently on the front nine before, heading into the larger dunes on the tough back nine. |
|
TRALEE 6,856 yards Par 71
Designed by Arnold Palmer but created by God; Tralee Golf Club, situated in southwest Ireland, is one of the most spectacularly beautiful golf courses you will ever encounter. Mr. Palmer himself has said that he has never before come across a piece of land so ideally suited to building a golf course. Each hole on this unique golf course presents its own special challenge. Cliffs, dunes, rugged terrain and the wild Atlantic Ocean become part of the experience. The treacherous traps and undulating greens all add up to make this a course you will want to play again and again. |

BALLYBUNION OLD 6,640 yards Par 71
Updated by Tom Watson, it is said that after playing Ballybunion for the first time, man would think the game originated here. A true seaside links course, virtually treeless and a course of sharp contours, Ballybunion is located on the Shannon Estuary. Although the course appears very intimidating it is extremely fair. It is not a course that will favor one particular type of player, but will reward all for good play. |

OLD HEAD 7,127 yards Par 72
Old Head is one of Irelands newest links courses only opening for play in 1997. Its lack of history soon disappears into insignificance once you first gaze upon the dramatic diamond shaped peninsula, which exudes golfing pedigree. The course occupies 180 acres of breathtaking coastline with unspoiled cliffs surrounding the course on three sides. The course has five par 5’s, five par 3’s and eight par 4’s, nine of which run directly along the cliff tops. Old Head is one of the worlds most talked about courses and certainly has a valid claim as one of the most memorable.
